My journey: Burning Man 2009: Evolution (Part 1)

I went to Burning Man this year for the first time. The theme was evolution, and the journey I took there and the experience of being there is the exemplification of evolution. Personal evolution. The experience was so intense, so compressed, so emotional, so overwhelming that it’s taken me almost 11 days to feel like I can even begin to put into words what my journey was like. I say this is part 1 because I honestly can’t put into just one post what my journey was all about. After all, when I got to the airport to wait on my return flight I ended up talking to my mother on the phone for 8 hours just rambling about the experience.

I still tear up when I think about the playa. I still get animated and excited as well as a little overwhelmed even trying to describe what it was like to be there.

After trying to explain the experience to people multiple times I came to one definite conclusion:
There is no way to explain the experience, giving it proper justice, and do so in less than an hour and a half. Minimum.

I’ve considered trying to write it all out and I just simply haven’t found the words. For me, writing is from the heart and soul but the extreme mental processing it takes to bring out the story leaves me incapable of words for paper. Instead I’ve been talking about my journey.

So today, I’m sharing a link to the first of a 4+ part interview I did with Sheifali. It is a start in explaining and at least a basic introduction to the journey itself.
